Taking on similar hard-handled wrenches without a gradation scale meant this B&Q-sourced adjustable was an underdog from the start.

On the plus side, it opens beyond the maker’s claimed figure of 19mm, extending to 21mm.

However, it failed to loosen the 35Nm bolt, and the play at the top, combined with an uncomfortable grip, affected the Stanley’s final ranking.
