Screen layout and controls meant our first impressions of the Clarion were very favourable. With the iPod hooked up, the supplied remote control worked well, but we became frustrated with the centre scroll button, which wouldn’t click to select tracks. This means it took a while to get used to working our Apple player through the CZ509E. Still, it’s an attractive design, and a reasonable choice for less than £250.
