New for 2009, this Gerber claims to be able to use any of three battery types. We tried it with the supplied AA cell, but it can also run on AAA and, for the brightest beam, CR123 power packs.

It’s well made and yet doesn’t weigh much, although it lacked punch with the AA battery, and the beam was narrow – not ideal for car repairs. This is more for walkers than drivers.
