Narrowly missing out on a place on our podium, the 1690 impressed us with connected services such as Traffic and Ciao! – a handy feature which locates similar devices. Simple mounting, speedy rerouting and clear instructions helped the nüvi score points. Despite including two years of free services – they’re £5 a month after – we preferred the easier to-use 950.
