Cordless Drills tested

BEST BUY

It’s impossible not to like this gem, with its powerful, long-lasting Li-ion battery. It’s light at 1.8kg, and the two speeds were well chosen at 350rpm and 1,200rpm, making driving and drilling a pleasure. A generous 22 torque settings were plenty and we liked the single-handed, keyless 13mm chuck and LED light.

It wasn’t quite as good as the Bosch at wire brushing, but it’s more than £10 cheaper.

Thanks for your comments

It looks like this drill has been discontinued. It is still available on B&Ds own site so you might be able to find it at individual stockists.

This test was carried out almost two years ago and we will be running a new test later this summer.

In the meantime, our Best Buy in the Ni-Cd category is still on sale for £99: http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/power-tools/drilling-screwdriving/drilling/cordless/-brand-Makita/Makita-8391DWPE-18V-Combi-Drill-2-Batteries-10798552?view-all=brand

Hope this helps - we're here if you have any more questions.

Thanks,
