This cast-iron vice was easily the heaviest we tried, and the best if you needed to use a hammer. The lead screw was flanked by two rods designed to help keep the mechanism square, and beneath the jaws were twin semi-circles for gripping larger tubes. But as the test bolt was turned, the jaws simply opened up, allowing it to turn and creating a rough patch on the lead screw.
