It’s exclusive to Nokia and bundled for free with all new phones, but Issue 1,110 Best Buy Ovi Maps no longer dominates. Still offers free navigation, and has new features like a trip report and the ability to play music while you read the instructions. We also love the free-to-download voices, plus it had the fastest reroute time, at four seconds. But we want simpler maps as opposed to 3D buildings, and there’s no traffic info.

We were surprised by this budget app. NDrive – which is also available for
Android and iPhone – features simple menus, plus a clutter-free display when routing. It took around 20 seconds to reroute, which isn’t bad considering it costs half as much as the TomTom. But it trails other paid-for software on extra features, and
at one point, told us we were on a road running parallel to the one we were on. Accuracy needs to be better for a paid-for app.
