Cordless Drills

Eight cordless drills are put to the test to find the ideal tool for the home car enthusiast.

April 2005

Which are the best cordless drills for working on your car? Here's the test that tells you! We took eight top-sellers into the workshop to find the tool that had the most power, the best extras and the longest battery life for your needs...

Verdict

JCB takes the Best Buy for a comprehensive package at a competitive price, while the drill itself is an impressive performer.

Draper's tool costs nearly twice as much and comes with a smaller range of accessories, but its better drilling and battery results ensure it's a prudent choice if the tool will be used on a daily basis.

The Halfords entry is a bargain, which makes it perfect for occasional DIY garage use.
