If it wasn't for the price, Clarke's offering would have been jostling for position with the top two. The big red machine boasted a long seven-metre hose, excellent storage for accessories and was ready to run as soon as you took it out of the box.

Its nozzle was easily adjustable, giving you scope to fine-tune the spray for each job, and we liked the impressive 450lh flow rate and punchy motor. But it's simply too costly in this company.
