The origin of the species, Vise Grips are, in some ways, still the best. These held on to our test nut even more fiercely than the Best Buy Mole. And, somehow, they felt less strained than any other tool here throughout the testing.

Another pleasing feature is the wide maximum jaw opening. But points are lost for the surprisingly narrow and short jaws, as well as a notchy adjuster screw.
