Car Vacum Cleaners

Shifting in-car grime is easy with a mini vacuum cleaner. But which is best for busting the dust? We take our pick from 12

August 2005

Cleaning the car sucks - literally, if you use a super vac to make that grime disappear. These gadgets can save loads of time, particularly when there is no mains power near your motor.

We looked at a dirty dozen vacuum cleaners - cordless (C), 12V portable (P) and 230V mains (M) - to see which gets to grips with the grunge.

Verdict

JCB's cordless DD014 walks away with the win here. It cleaned up performance-wise, and is built to last. The mains Electrolux Workzone was next, combining decent power with a good price.

Cigar lighter vacs came unstuck, as they lack the other units' muscle. If you really want one, go for the Black and Decker Dustbuster Auto - it's cheap, but then for only £2 more, you can have the far superior cord-less Dirt Devil DD062.

Top 3

  1. JCB DD014
  2. Electrolux Workzone
  3. Dirt Devil DD062
