The most unusual holder in the test employed a spring-loading action to secure the mobiles, rather than holding them with a ratchet grip as the rest of the competition here does. It gripped all our phones well enough, but we were never completely convinced that they'd remain in position. What's more, the sticky pad left marks, and we broke the holder when removing it from the car. It's cheap - but there are better options around.
