Even though it’s the simplest and cheapest system here, the Kenwood is packed with features. You get two outputs for amplification, rather than the standard four, but there’s a subwoofer connection, remote control, WMA/MP3 and AAC capability, plus lots of optional plug-ins. Better still, a 3.5mm socket means any portable device can be played, and the USB socket on the front is a bonus. All this made up for the controls, which we found fiddly and poorly marked.
