Overall Average Rating: 84.18%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 71st

While the Clio does nothing truly badly – the lowest score is for build quality – it doesn’t exactly shine at anything either.

Your votes were high enough to give average scores in all the driving dynamics categories, while comfort is rated below par.

Indeed, the only highlight of an otherwise nondescript scoresheet is 41st for reliability.

Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 34th)

Although it’s ahead of rival Peugeot, Renault won’t be happy to be second from bottom. Bosses will be hoping the new Twingo, Mégane and Laguna ranges can improve its standing next year.

06-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Very reliable, very economical, surprisingly spacious. No repairs needed, but servicing by local dealer extremely expensive, and with all the extras they persuaded me to buy with my second-hand car it would probably have been cheaper to buy new (this was before the present scrappage scheme). But overall satisfaction very high.

Excellent small car - 80bhp model - drives well and is fine for motorway work. Easy to park as only small and consistent 60+ mpg and £35 road tax means it is dirt cheap to run. Would definitely by newer model of Clio when looking to replace in future.

My Clio's served me well over the last 6 years, it's, cheap to run, economical, reasonably quick, and I can generally get everything I need to into it. However, the build quality is not especially good, it's noisy and not particularly comfortable.

Its a great little car especially for all the town driving that I do, so its really nippy to around and mpg is also very good. Would happily have another one of these models but equally happy to have another model.

A superb, fast car that is also comfortable, practical and economical enough for every day use. The kind of car that you make unnecessary journeys in, just so you can drive it!

It's a brilliant little car but unfortunately now has an internal leak which no-one can locate the source so will be changing it within the next month..

A practical diesel super mini. Fuel economy nowhere near as good as manufacturer's figures suggest. Comfortable to drive but unexciting.

Renaultsport cars are great value for the amount of pleasure you get from driving them. They continue this with my 197 and the new 200

Cheap to buy and run but built to a reasonable standard. Not a high end car but does what you can reasonably expect of it.
