Toyota FUN-VII

One of a handful of futuristic Toyota concepts in Tokyo, the FUN-VII is a digital display board on wheels

It wouldn't be the Tokyo Motor Show without a procession of far-fetched concepts, and Toyota is leading from the front. This is the FUN-VII, one of several show cars it's ready to reveal in Japan under the theme of "Fun to Drive, Again".

As well as giving the car a sleek appearance, the blacked-out surfaces act as one seamless digital display screen, which can be changed by the driver. The interior surfaces feature the same functionality, too, making this the ultimate moving billboard and the most customisable car in the world.

On the inside the navigation maps and other functions are displayed across the interior surfaces, while a 3D hologram provides information to the driver. A network update function makes sure the software for the vehicle's drive, control and multimedia system are always up-to-date.

The Fun-Vii is also able to link with surrounding vehicles and infrastructure, allowing it to detect potential hazards in advance, or to connect with friends driving nearby.
