Toyota is set to join the space race! The Japanese firm is the latest to announce a B-segment supermini MPV. Called the Verso-S, the Jazz-rival was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
Full details will be announced at the show, but Toyota claims that the Verso-S will feature “the shortest overall length of any B-segment MPV in Europe - less than four metres.”
The exterior boasts the angular, dynamic shapes that have marked out Toyota’s recent designs, most notably the iQ supermini. The firm adds that the interior will boast impressive flexibility and a design which maximises usable space, comfort and perceived quality.
The Toyota Verso-S is due to go on sale in the UK in early 2011.
Also joining the new Verso-S were updated versions of the iQ and Aygo, both of which benefit from some interior upgrades.
The iQ gets higher-grade, soft-touch plastics on the dashboard and the door panels, plus new color schemes and more extensive trim options. The Aygo benefits from a new multimedia system, including a built-in TomTom sat-nav.

I've been a big fan of Toyota since my parents started having them, and I still am now because I love their reliability, despite the recalls eariler this year.
I think the new Verso-S looks really nice, but how would you compare it to the 7-seater?
Also, the upgrades to iQ and AYGO suit them very well.
So, without further ado, roll on Paris! :)
Why is it that some manufacturer's models seem to be scooped years before they are due to be released and others are ignored until just before the launch?
With government, councils and the police successfully removing all enjoyment from driving for us responsible (and legal) drivers, and making it ridiculously expensive despite public transport still being rubbish, cars like this make much more sense.
What every cash strapped family needs, a One Car that does everything but is not boring. Just keep well away from the 'toybox' design that plagues so many new car interiors.
I run a Peugeot 206SW 1.4 HDi, low CO2/Tax, low Insurance, ecconomical and lots of rear space for mobility scooter, only replacements with low CO2 to do the job is Bipper Tepee van based but got doubts, I will certainly look at Verso-S as it has van style high opening at back but must be flat floor with at least 4ft long luggage space with seats folded to hold scooter, I only need 2 seats, will be watching for CO2 tax rating and prices also. Can I buy it without back seats as they don't get used.
This looks really good - sharper than a Honda Jazz. Hopefully the next Yaris will inherit some of this sharp dynamic design.
Another winner for the best manufacturer in the world! yay! Lets hope those 1/2 red upholstery seats don't make the show room! yuke!
