A warmed-up 138bhp version of the Vauxhall Adam is coming next year, while a hot VXR model could be on the cards, too.
Vauxhall has also confirmed it’s working on a new, small- capacity direct-injection turbo engine similar to the 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost, which will find its way into the Adam late next year.
The warm Adam will use a turbocharged version of the 1.4-litre 98bhp engine already offered, and arrive at the same time. It’ll get an extra 40bhp – meaning 0-62mph in under 10 seconds – plus suspension tweaks and a bodykit.
A VXR Adam is further away, although insiders say that they’re keen to build a challenger to the MINI Cooper S, probably with the Corsa VXR’s 1.6-litre 189bhp turbo engine.
