Mitsubishi Evo IX MR

Mitsubishi's engineers have tweaked the current Evo to bridge the gap until the new one arrives next year

By Peter Lyon October 2006

With the eagerly anticipated Evo X not due on sale in the UK until early 2008, the IX still has a long way to go before it is replaced. To make sure it doesn’t fall behind the competition, Mitsubishi’s Japanese engineers have given their high performance flagship an overhaul and created this – the MR edition.

Here Auto Express’s Japan editor Peter Lyon tests the hot new all-wheel drive supersaloon to the limit on the racetrack and gives his verdict.

Now available to order in Japan, the MR is expected to come to the UK through Mitsubishi’s official importer.
