Transport doen't come any more rugged that double-cab pick ups - a sector dominated by the Mitsubishi L200 and Toyota Hilux. But VW think it can change all that with the Amarok - the first pick-up to be designed and engineered entirely in Europe.
From the outside it's instantly recogniseable as a Volkswagen, thanks to the familar family face - and it's the same story inside. The high-quality interior is simply an expanded version of the cabin architecture found in the Golf and Polo. But can it cut it both on the road and when the going gets rough?
