Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's simply Tanner Foust, Top Gear USA presenter and rally driver, smashing the car jump world record in a life-size Hot Wheels vehicle.
At the Indianapolis 500 centenary race, Jeremy Clarkson's American opposite delighted spectators by soaring 332 feet into the air and smashing the previous car jump record by a full 31 feet. Based on the concept of the children's Hot Wheels toys, Foust picked up enough speed to realise the stunt by dropping down a 10-story-high platform onto a sharp launch ramp and then keeping the car stable in mid-air to come down correctly on the landing ramp.
Despite slightly overshooting his mark, the landing was solid enough and the minute he could stabilise his vehicle, he climbed out onto its roof and bathed in the crowd's adoration.
