Delving into the past once again, Porsche pulled the covers off the latest addition to the 911 range, the Speedster. Sporting the recognisable 'double bubble' tonneau cover, the Speedster incorporates a lightweight canvas with no power assistance, a 44mm wider rear track and traditional Fuchs alloy wheels.
The engine bay contains an uprated version of the standard 3.8-litre flat six, producing 402bhp, a powerplant it shares with the new 911 Carrera GTS coupe. The Speedster is capable of 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 189mph.
Fitted as standard are the ceramic composite brakes and PDK double-clutch gearbox complete with steering wheel paddles. Fuel economy is stated as 27.4mpg - exactly the same as the less potent Carrera S. In order to achieve the retro look Porsche has added a sharply raked and shortened windscreen plus black stone guards on the rear arches, features Porsche fans will instantly recognise.
Priced at £144,000 the 911 Speedster is the second most expensive 911 behind the GT2 RS.
