Citroen C6 Snapped

Here are the best shots yet of the Citroen C6 - the car that is intended to pick up where the much-maligned XM left off in 2000.

Scheduled to go on sale in 2006, the C6 shown here is clearly the successor to the C6 Lignage concept car of 1999; it has a very long wheelbase, a raked profile and sweeping bonnet, though we can't see under the disguises yet to discern whether the concept's concave rear window will make it to the production version.

Built on a lengthened version of the Peugeot 407's platform, the C6 will be a similar size to the 607 but unlike that car, could come in five-door luxury hatch form (think Renault Vel Satis and Opel Signum), not just as a booted saloon.

Expect a very high level of gadgets and luxuries; the show car was fitted with head-up displays, infra-red night vision and adaptive headlamps, and some of those features at least will make it into the real thing.
