BMW X3

Following the X5, the new BMW X3 will be presented in 2004. Still heavily disguised with a fake body overcoat, a first prototype has now been caught testing in the extreme cold of northern Europe. Although badged with Munich number-plates (BMW's headquarters), the new car is being developed by SFT in Graz / Austria where it will also be built from spring 2004 on.

Although the X3 will be a completely independent car, it will be technically related to the next generation 3-series (expected in 2005).

Petrol engines will be six-cylinder units (170, 192 and 231 HP), turbodiesels will offer 150 HP out of 2 litres capacity or 193 HP out of 3 litres. An M-version with the M3's 3.6-litre engine is likely to follow in 2005 or 06.
