Fiat Stilo Weekend

By ©Automedia

September 2002

Not only in Turin but also at the German Nurburgring race track, Fiat is currently testing a heavily disguised prototype of what's to become the future Stilo Weekend estate version. While the principal technical base of the three- and five-door hatchbacks - with a wheelbase of 2.60 metres and a width of 1.76 metres - will be left untouched, length will grow about 20 centimetres to 4.45 metres which is four centimetres shorter than the current Marea Weekend. However, due to better space economics the interior will still be bigger compared to the predecessor. Buyers will get a luggage compartment offering between 500 and 1500 litres. All engines of the three- and five-door hatchback will be available for the Stilo Weekend, too, when it hits the roads in early 2002 and starts chasing customers from Volkswagen (Golf Variant), Opel (Astra Caravan) and Ford (Focus Tournier). Only a couple of months later, the whole Stilo range will also be available with the new direct injection fuel engine.
