Porsche Carrera GT

By ©Automedia

October 2002

It was the star of the Paris Motor Show in autumn 2000 - and apparently it attracted enough clients to make it from the concept it was to the production car it'll soon be: the Porsche Carrera GT super-car is currently undergoing extreme handling tests at the German Nürburgring. Presentation is likely to be at next year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Though the GT's design might be changed a little bit here and there, the general layout will be left untouched. And that reads quite exciting: The Porsche Carrera GT will be a high-performance roadster featuring a monocoque chassis and a 5.5-litre V10 mid-engine with 40 valves. This power-pack will be producing some 560 HP. The car will also feature rear-wheel-drive and ceramic brakes. Top-speed should be above 330 km/h while acceleration should be less than four seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. However, you don't have to be afraid of being overtaken by too many next time your speeding on the German Autobahn: at a price of 500 000 Euros, the Carrera GT will be selling in slightly less numbers than your standard VW Golf...
