Lamborghini L140

Giugiaro's latest creation, the long-awaited Baby Lambo code-named L140, will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2003. It is currently undergoing high-speed testing at the German Nürburging - probably the best place to test a sportscar that's to rival a Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari 360 Modena, the new small Aston Martin and similar cars of the same league. The L140 will be the first car to be developed in co-operation with Audi right from the start. Audi designer Luc Donckerwolke will be in charge of the design which is still hidden under a boxy disguise in our footage.

November 2002

The smaller brother of the Murciélago will be a pure two-seater powered by a mid-mounted V10 engine delivering around 500 HP. Its aluminium body will be mounted on a spaceframe chassis developed by Audi's own Aluminium Center in Neckarsulm, Germany, where they also build the A8 and, in the future, a new two-seater sports-coupé expected to be yet a smaller brother of the L140 to be named the Audi RSR.

Needless to say the new Baby-Lamborghini will get permanent all-wheel drive and electronic stability program. The potent V10-unit will be coupled to a six-speed manual transmission to be operated by steering wheel-mounted paddles. Like the Ferrari 360 Modena, the L140 will be offered as a coupé, cabrio and targa. The two latter ones, however, won't see the light of day before summer 2004.
