The Mazda MX Micro Sport
will be built, and here the exclusive pictures showing the car cold-weather testing on a frozen lake in northern Scandinavia. Based on a slightly lengthened and widened platform of the Mazda 2, the Micro Sport will mimic the concept of the Ford Fiesta Fusion: a tamed-down off-roader body, but fitted with front-wheel-drive only.
Power will come from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit delivering 140 bhp through a six-speed manual gearbox, though less potent versions might follow later. Production is likely to start in late 2004.
