You might think that with four cylinders less than the more powerful W12 model, the new Bentley Continental GT V8 would be inferior, but that’s far from the truth.

The new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, co-developed with Audi, produces 500bhp and 660Nm of torque, which is enough to fire it all the way to 188mph. And as you’ll see in our video, you’ll have loads more fun in the process.

Not only does the lighter engine sharpen up the steering, but the exhaust has been tuned for a genuine V8 growl which gives this car a sportier character. And the icing on the cake? It uses 40 per cent less fuel than the W12.
