It's o.k. - there are things I really like about it - style, colour, heated leather seats, great stereo. But it has proved to be a bit unreliable and expensive to maintain. I do like VWs and this is my second Polo but if I bought another Polo I would not buy the same model (mine is a 1.4 Sport). Quite interested in the Polo Blue Motion but the initial outlay is quite high, with low running costs and low CO2 emissions.

Its a vw but quality of interior plastics not very good. easily scratched. bonnet release lever broke after 2nd use. windscreen washer jets easily drop out of position when you clean the windscreen/knock them. Good mpg on motorway but have to drive like a nun round town to get anything decent mpg wise.

This polo estate ispractical, economical but tight on rear leg room. Being a base model it does not have ABS and when not loaded the rear brakes lock up under heavy breaking. Its a pity VW does not chose to make estate variants of the polo anymore. May have to buy a Skoda Fabia estate.

for the money its ideal, a runaround town vehicle with 4 doors, it provides reasonably good fuel efficiency and insurance is cheap as engine is small. My boot will not accomodate golf clubs unless back seats down. Match is styled with leather steering wheel, and bucket seats.

Never fails to start even in the worst weather. Spares are long lasting and good quality ,so, last a long time, therefore, running costs are excellent. Could be nippier but it works well for about town driving. driving on motorways and general overtaking are another matter

This polo is as tough as a week old army spam fritter! apart from the odd bulb replacement and the windscreen washer pump, nothing has worn out. Well ,next to nothing apart from the fuel, and 43 mpg is ok for a 14 year old car.

2003-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

I have had the car for about 8 years and it has only twice let me down, both occasions were due to faults with the automatic transmitance. Seems quite heavy n petrol, small spare parts ie replacement mirrors very expensive.

Only real problem is it refusing to start if the last time it was started the engine only ran for a minute. Expensive servicing & parts. not particularly good mpg compared to newer cars.

Great little car, looks good, can go up to 110 mph which is more than enough for normal driving, accelerate ok without full of people/stuff in the car.

Only 18 months so far but no issues at all. I have not checked the mpg but it does not seem to be all that great, perhaps the tank is just too small!
