I find the car to be very reliiable, but I do not drive as much as I used to,as I am terminally ill,and disabled.I like the car as I feel safe in it.I had a 460 automatic before,I love the colour. It's a bit expensive to run,but I enjoy driving it,as I'm not allowed to go abroad, this is may way of having fun.being a poor mans rolls royce,a volvo you pay for what you want, and the parts are ge/teed.

Cam belt tensioner bolt was not tightened properly when built & this came undone, the cam belt let go, and the valves & pistons had a head butting competition! Fortunately Volvo were good enough to swap out the unit even though I had done 96,000 miles by then. The replacement D5 unit does an average of 55mpg on a daily trip to Lincoln & back, so no grumbles here!

I'm very impressed all round. Every time I drive it I feel safe and in control. I love the image as well, there's a hint of pretentiousness but basically it's completely inoffensive and when people discover what I drive there's usually an eyebrow raised rather than the scowl my friends who drive BMW's receive. Long live Volvo!

Have had very little trouble for a car of this age. a couple of year's ago, the service did come in pretty expensive as a number of things needed doing (ł2000+), but mostly it's just standard running cost things. Reasonably heavy on fuel, but then I have a heavy accelerator foot.

Been in garage 3 times in 4 months twice due to post sales niggles and once due to a warning light that was due to to much oil being put in car. Car is driven hard but still returns 40 - 50 mpg. not as good as bmw could do with stop start tech etc.

It has always been very reliable until a fan belt broke, it was replaced be green flag, the rebroke, went into the cam belt and destroyed my engine. than you green flag. Regular services needed, with expensive oil but otherwise excellent.

Excellent. Great performance & economy (almost 50mpg - brilliant for a large car) let down only by an average ride quality and a lousy turning circle. And one of the front headlamp bulbs needs to be replaced by a trained mechanic!

Above average, quality is good, need to shop arround for parts/service. Manufacturer does not design for the 'home mechanic'. 2.4 diesel engine has very good fuel economy - better than expected. Car is smaller than people think.

Nothing has gone wrong yet and it doesn't seem to overuse consumables. Fuel is the highest cost, despite 50 mpg+servicing is more expensive than most of my previous vehicles but not excessive..

Probably has too much power for me, and for the chassis (I have the T5 turbo), but I wanted something out of the common run of cars and I have not been disappointed in that.

The most comfortable car I have owned. Ideal for commuting on motorways - better than expected fule economy from the D5 diesel engine - and unrivalled seat comfort.

Indestructible, well built familly car. Had never owned a car for longer than two years before I bought this and still really like it nearly seven years later.

Let down once in almost 7 years and over 100k miles. Servicing can be expensive and tax dear compared to newer more powerful diesels.

With normal servicing and repairs it has never broken down. It isn't cheap but you have to pay the price for quality and comfort.
