Overall Average Rating: 85.1%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 57th

The V70 is starting to slip down the ranks – but that doesn’t mean its past its sell-by date.

A pair of top 10 finishes in the practicality and comfort categories shows that it still knows how to keep owners happy.

However, you told us that the estate’s handling is off the pace, while running costs are high. Equally disappointing is an 80th place finish for reliability.

Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 13th)

The Swedish brand has slipped again. You love the comfort and refinement of its cars, but aren’t so keen on how much they cost to run. The new range of eco-friendly DRIVe models will surely help.

X-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Heavy petrol consumption in town (about 16mpg). Rearview mirrors leave blindspots. Sometimes you only know a car is overtaking you if you turn your head to the right to look at it!.

Has suffered from possibly noisy power steering pump which an independent garage said had to be fixed by main dealer. But Volvo main dealer charged for looking for fault but couldn't hear the noise I or indepenedent gargae both could hear.

the only thing to go wrong onthe car in four years of ownership are three headlight bulbs and one tailight the car is an excellent load lugger and accomodates the whole family (two kids and two dogs) with ease sevice charges by the frachised dealer are expensive but no dearer than any other car by a non franchised

A pretty good car; I upgraded from a V40 to this model and find it quite good. Around urban areas it can be reasonably thirsty but on motorways etc it guives good fuel consumption. Seats for long disances are very good and it has all the safety features that I feel are necessary.

Reliable, comfortable workhorse, takes what ever is throwen at it by the family. Averages 45 - 50 mpg which is astounding for such a big car, Part prices from franchised dealer quite expensive, & some parts only available from them. All in all a great car,

love my car, shame it's not made now, well it is if you want a mondeo. would like it more if the roof was a little higher so i could get taller things in the boot. only downside because it's diesel the turning circle is dreadful, parking is a nightmare.

Brilliant. A shame Volvo stopped making LPG FF cars on 15th May 2005. Their error is only compounded by the UK government charged VEL on the petrol emissions NOT LPG ones. Of course we all drive on petrol in our LPG cars! Bring on another uk government!

The Volvo V70 T6 AWD is a great car, quick - but not the least sporty - and the pulling power makes it effortless to drive. It is quiet and supremely comfortable, but big, heavy with a powerful engine and 4wd doesn't make it very economical.

Dealer Service Terrible. Volvo Dealers are closing all over the country. The poor radio fitted from new still has not been changed. Windows sometimes go down for no reason when trying to close. Never go for a Ford derived Volvo again.

Volvo 850 T5 Estate - excellent car, can be genteel around town, or very agile, very good for long distance motorway travel. EState has n enormous capacity for carrying goods.
No doubt that I will buy Volvo later model of T5.

Attitude of VOLVO UK lamentable.

Find good dealer & stick with, often cheaper than independants
