Jaguar F-Type flies the flag with British Design Edition

Patriotic special edition F-Type gets extra kit and special paint. It’s on sale now, priced from £75,225

More than three years after the F-Type launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2012, Jaguar has unveiled its first special edition model; the F-Type British Design Edition.

Available as a Coupe or Convertible, the F-Type British Design Edition plays on its heritage and comes in a range of colours – including Ultra Blue, which is new to the sports car range. Other colours include Caldera Red and Glacier White. Ultimate Black is also an option.

It’s only available with the 375bhp 3.0-litre V6 S engine, mated to the eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

All cars get the Sport Design pack and British Design Edition badges front and rear. The lavishly equipped F-Type gets satin grey 20-inch Cyclone wheels and uprated brakes with red calipers. All cars also benefit from a gloss black front splitter and body coloured side sill extensions. The Coupe is also available with a fixed rear spoiler.

Inside, you’ll find a full leather interior, complete with contrast stitching. A set of 14-way electrically adjustable sports seats also feature, with British Design Edition-embossed headrests.

Jaguar design director Ian Callum said: “The F-Type is a sports car that excites the senses, with a visual drama that is both individual and very British. Creating the British Design Edition gave us the opportunity to subtly enhance the way the F-Type looks. Both inside and out.”

All Design Edition cars get an upgraded infotainment system over the standard V6 S. Cars equipped with the InControl Touch setup benefit from a 10-speaker 380W Meridian stereo, while those with InControl Touch Plus get a 770W system with 12 speakers.

Elsewhere, improvements have been made to the entire F-Type range to ensure all Convertibles get an additional eight litres of bootspace. A small improvement – but an improvement nonetheless.

The F-Type British Design Edition is on sale now, priced from £75,225 for the Coupe and £80,390 for the Convertible. Customer deliveries will begin in the spring.
