Maserati reveals new Royale versions of Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante

New, limited run versions of the Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante pay tribute to special 1986 Quattroporte

Maserati has revealed a new special edition collection of cars spanning the Italian marque’s entire three-model line-up, all of which are inspired by a single special edition version of the third-generation Quattroporte.

Called the Royale special series, the new limited edition specification is available on six-cylinder versions of the brand’s three models, with just 100 units of each earmarked for production.

All feature similar tweaks to that of the Quattroporte Royale, released in 1986. That car was differentiated from the regular Quattroporte line-up of the day with exclusive blue and green paint options, additional wood and leather in the cabin, and a production run of just 51 units that made it one of the most exclusive versions of Maserati’s super-saloon at the time.

Following on from this, the new Royale versions of the current Quattroporte, the smaller Ghibli saloon and the Levante SUV will be offered in a choice of two dark shades of metallic blue and green, named Blu Royale and Verde Royale respectively. The exterior revamp is completed with a set of anthracite-coloured multispoke alloy wheels on each model, unique for the Royle series cars, while the brake calipers are finished in an understated silver shade.

In the cabin, the Royale specification cars are based on GranLusso trim versions of their respective models and are available with one-tone Pelletessuta Cuoio tan leather or a two-tone black and cuoio tan combination. The Levante is finished with metal effect trim inserts, the Ghibli receives Ebony trim, while the Quattroporte is finished with piano black wood. All cars receive a distinctive “one of 100” commemorative plate in the interior too.

Standard equipment on all models includes a Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system, the Cold Weather Premium optional pack (heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel), plus the Driving Assistance Plus Pack (adaptive cruise control with stop & go functions, advanced emergency braking assistance and blind-spot warning) among other features.

Six-cylinder exclusivity means that 271bhp, 3.0-litre V6 diesel and 345bhp and 424bhp 3.0-litre petrol versions of the Royale cars are offered, with no V8 editions planned.

Order books for the Royale edition trio are open now, and buyers can expect to receive their cars in March 2020. Prices start from £78,900 for the Ghibli, £85,300 for the Levante and £103,150 for the Quattroporte.
