New 2018 Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe spotted in disguise

Facelifted Mercedes C-Class Coupe appears in hot AMG form for the first time, with exterior revisions and new cabin tech expected

Mercedes-AMG has a wide portfolio of hot models on sale, so we're used to spying prototypes - and the latest to emerge is the facelifted C 63 Coupe. The BMW M4 rival receives a light refresh for the 2018 model year along with the rest of the C-Class range

The external tweaks aren't immediately visible on this test mule, but they are there. Behind the cladding we're led to believe there is a new two-bar horizontal grille design, while there's also changes to the air intakes and the rear bumper profile. New LED running lights will feature, although this prototype uses the old lights.

The interior will showcase a redesigned dashboard and instrument panel, with technology and user interfaces borrowed (in watered-down form) from the new E-Class and S-Class. Expect minor trim upgrades also, while new colour and material choices will be available.

While there's a new 2.0-litre diesel engine expected in the regular 2018 C-Class, the C 63's relatively modern 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is unlikely to receive tweaks. Power should stay at 469bhp for the base car and 503bhp for the S - though it's possible some chassis revisions will debut.

We'll see the updated C-Class towards the end of this year - possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show - before it goes on sale for the new year. Prices may increase slightly over the current C 63, which starts at £63,475.
