New Pininfarina Battista Anniversario limited edition revealed

Limited-edition Pininfarina Battista Anniversario hypercar unveiled, priced at €2.6 million

Images of the special-edition Pininfarina Battista Anniversario have been released by the Italian firm, in place of the car’s public debut at the cancelled Geneva Motor Show.

Priced at €2.6 million (£2.26 million approx), the Anniversario model is limited to just five examples, although it remains part of the 150-unit limit that Pininfarina has placed on global sales of the electric hypercar.

The Anniversario gains a “unique, Pininfarina heritage-inspired design theme” that incorporates three signature colours: Bianco Sestriere, Iconica Blu and the never-seen-before Grigio Antonelliano. Chief design officer Luca Borgogno claims the car has “one of the most complex paint finishes in the world”, taking weeks to finish by hand at the firm’s design centre in Cambiano, Italy.

The Furiosa package – which can be specced on any Battista – is included as standard on the Anniversario, adding a revised carbon-fibre front splitter, side blades and rear diffuser.

According to Pininfarina, this results in extra downforce and more stability in high-speed corners.

Other bespoke additions include unique seats, a sustainably crafted black-leather and Alcantara interior, an engraved chassis plate and ‘Pininfarina 90’ logos that mark the brand’s 90th anniversary.

“For 90 years, the Pininfarina name has been at the forefront of automotive design and performance, and the Battista perfectly encapsulates these values,” said Automobili Pininfarina CEO Michael Perschke. “This ultimate expression of Battista, the Anniversario, is the distillation of everything that the brand has stood for in the past and which we now strive for in the future, creating a new pinnacle of desirability for electric cars.”

Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman of the company and grandson of its founder, added: “My grandfather always had the vision that one day, there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. The Battista Anniversario, named in his honour to mark 90 years of the carrozzeria that he started, is a glorious way to link our past with the future of motoring.”

The car’s performance figures are identical to those of the standard vehicle, with Pininfarina maintaining the Battista’s claim as the most powerful Italian road car ever. Four electric motors develop 1,874bhp and 2,300Nm of torque, while 0-62mph is said to take less than two seconds. 0-186mph takes under 12 seconds, and the top speed is 217mph.

Meanwhile, a 120kWh battery should give the car more than 311 miles of range on a single charge.

Production of the Pininfarina Battista is expected to start at the end of 2020.
