2015 Nissan NV400 new engines revealed

Nissan has released details of updates to its NV400 panel van for 2015, at the IAA commercial vehicle show in Hanover

The Nissan NV400, which is based on the Renault Master and Vauxhall Movano panel vans, is set to receive a range of new engines, fuel saving technology and some extra kit.

The engines, all versions of the Renault-made 2.3-litre common rail diesel unit, offer slightly more power than before. A pair of single turbo units produce 110bhp and 125bhp respectively.

They are now joined by a pair of new twin-turbo units, which develop 135bhp and 165bhp. Also available is a revised version of the old 150bhp single-turbo unit, with a robotized semi-auto box.

The new twin-turbo engines are designed to handle heavy duty journeys, with a small turbo offering increased torque below 1,500rpm for quicker getaways. The larger turbo widens the torque band for higher revs, making the NV400 more adept at motorway speeds.

Despite the extra power, even the 165bhp model is now able to achieve an impressive 40mpg combined, and the smaller-engined models are even better. This is thanks to the inclusion of Stop-Start tech and regenerative braking across the range.

It also has a new ECO mode, which limits engine torque and optimizes the climate control for greater efficiency. All now come with a DAB Radio and Bluetooth as standard too.

New standard tech includes Hill Start Assist, a new ESP system, Trailer Sway control, and a new Wide View mirror. Passenger versions have a Tyre Pressure Monitoring system too.

As before, the NV400 will be available with a huge array of different body configurations. Details of pricing will be available later in the year.
