Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 - All-Season Tyre Test

Two of Goodyear’s top spots came in the wet handling and circle tests

  • Score: 100%
  • Ranking: 1st
  • Price: £119.54

The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 has bounced around the sharp end of our all-season test results since its 2020 debut and finally secured the win this year by the narrowest of margins. Unlike previous tests where tyres have dominated thanks to a string of top results, this year has seen a wider range of rivals share the limelight. But Goodyear stayed far enough ahead to take victory at the fourth time of asking.

It was joint victor with overall runner-up Vredestein across the wet tests – always key in our rankings, which focus on the UK climate. The Goodyear felt the better of the two on the TRIWO handling track, with a sharpness rivals couldn’t get close to. Traction was also good, pulling the car through turns where others pushed wide. It was less effective in the aquaplaning test, but backed up that good handling result around the circle and in braking.

It was also the champion in dry handling, where that sharpness could still be felt, plus the line could be held for longer as we accelerated through the turns. It also felt stable in the big stops from high speed, although it could only manage sixth in the braking test.

It was around one per cent off the ultimate pace in the snow, but was one of the best to drive again in handling, with a good balance and quick slide recovery. Competitive fuel consumption was enough to seal the Gen-3’s first win.

We say:

The Vector 4Seasons was one of the best tyres to drive and it managed to back up that sharpness with a series of top results to take the win.

Blackcircles.com says:

This tyre has been well received by customers, scoring an overall 4.4/5. Reviews often comment on the tyre’s wet performance, plus braking and handling in winter conditions.
