The concept of platform sharing has significantly boosted reliability and safety in recent years. That is the case with the Vauxhall Grandland, which shares its underpinnings and many parts with the excellent Peugeot 3008 family SUV.

As such, both cars were awarded the full five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating, with the Grandland receiving solid scores across the board when it was tested in 2017. It got an 84 per cent rating for adult occupant protection, and 87 per cent for security of child occupants. Considering that the standard safety kit includes automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning and driver drowsiness alert, plus front and rear parking sensors, whichever way you look at it, Vauxhall’s largest SUV to date is a safe family car

The Grandland finished in a superb 7th position out of 75 cars in the 2021 Driver Power owner satisfaction survey, but fell to 24th place in 2022 and down to 52nd in our most recent rankings. Vauxhall itself also fared poorly in the 2022 Driver Power survey, coming in 19th place out of 29 manufacturers – well behind Citroen in 13th spot and Peugeot's 4th place finish.

Warranty

The Vauxhall Grandland comes with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty. While it’ll be of little consequence to many motorists, Vauxhall actually offers that warranty without a mileage cap for the first year.

The policy is competitive, if not class leading. Kia continues to offer a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, while Hyundai’s five-year/unlimited-mileage deal is particularly appealing for higher-mileage motorists.

Servicing

The 1.2-litre petrol Grandland model requires servicing annually or every 12,500 miles, whichever comes first, while the diesel and plug-in hybrid models’ service interval is once a year or after every 20,000 miles. Vauxhall offers various servicing plans based on the age of your vehicle, with prices starting from around £20 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars.
