New Volkswagen T-Cross Black Edition on sale now

New Volkswagen T-Cross Black Edition SUV launched, with black exterior styling and more interior tech

VW T-Cross Black Edition

This is the Volkswagen T-Cross Black Edition. It’s a special edition version of the German brand’s smallest crossover and is based on the model’s SE trim level, with Black Edition trim featuring a handful of equipment upgrades at a trimmed-down price.

Prices for the T-Cross Black Edition start from £21,035, which is only £500 more than the SE variant. However, Volkswagen says the car’s upgrades would be worth more than £2,000 were they individually specified.

Upgrades include 17-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels, LED headlights, rear privacy glass and black replacements for the crossover’s grille, bumper trim and door mirror caps. Inside, buyers get black dashboard trim, sports seats and a fresh set of floor mats.

Like the T-Cross SE, the Black Edition comes as standard with adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and lane-keep assist, although Volkswagen has added front and rear parking sensors as part of the upgrade too.

The German brand also offers a few optional extras for the T-Cross Black Edition, including two-zone climate control (£875), a digital gauge cluster (£385) and a 300-watt, six-speaker stereo system by Beats (£445).

Buyers can choose from two turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines. The cheapest model has an output of 94bhp and comes as standard with a five-speed manual gearbox.

Prices for the more powerful option start from £21,800. It produces 108bhp and features a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, although buyers can opt for a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for an extra £1,500.
