Lexus RC and RC F updated with new tech for 2018

Lexus updates the RC coupe across the range, but adds a price tag premium too

Lexus has updated the RC coupe line-up for 2018, introducing new standard equipment on all models and adding a new trim level to slot in between the F Sport and range-topping Premier cars.

Across the range, Lexus’ Safety System+ suite of driver assistance tech is now standard equipment. The package includes a pre-collision warning system, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam headlights and lane departure warning.

Inside, all cars are now equipped with Lexus Premium Navigation, displayed on a 10.3-inch infotainment screen operated using the firm’s Remote Touch touchpad control system. Elsewhere there’s a new ‘auto-away’ function for the steering wheel and driver’s seat, which pushes the seat back and draws the steering wheel in for easier entry and exit, while the climate control system now details every individual ventilation point in the cabin.

Sandwiched in between the mid range RC F Sport and RC Premier models is the new F Sport Premier Pack car, priced from £43,540. On top of F Sport, this new model gains a 17-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound audio setup, a DVD player, a DAB digital radio which Lexus says boasts improved reception, a sunroof, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.

These changes have been applied to the V8 powered RC F too, which gains a Plus Pack version in addition to the standard RC F car and the RC F Carbon edition. The Plus Pack receives semi-aniline leather upholstery and ventilated front seats, the same 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio setup as on the RC Premier Pack, a blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert and lane change assist. It’s priced from £62,620.

The refreshed RC line-up is on sale now, with the entry level RC 300h Luxury model priced from £39,140 – an increase of £1,995 for the additional kit.

Now read about the RC's bigger brother - the new LC coupe.
