Rolls-Royce Ghost Elegance adds some sparkle to Geneva

Bespoke elongated wheelbase Rolls-Royce Ghost commissioned for a special customer features a paint job containing 1,000 crushed diamonds

Rolls-Royce has revealed a bespoke new car at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show – a unique elongated wheelbase Ghost called the Elegance, which has been commissioned for an individual collector. It will take pride of place on the Rolls-Royce stand alongside a Black Badge edition Wraith – one of the firm’s showings from last year.

The Ghost Elegance’s stand-out feature is actually its paint finish - a colour coat created with diamonds. The paint is called Diamond Stardust and features 1,000 crushed gems to create a standout sparkle finish. Created at Rolls-Royce's factory in Goodwood, West Sussex, it took a team of paint specialists two months to perfect the paint, leaving the diamonds – milled to a fine powder - undetectable to the touch but still very much visible.

Additional paint touches – such as the red and black coachlines and the centre of the 21-inch wheels – are applied by hand using a squirrel hair paintbrush.

All the latest from the 2017 Geneva Motor Show

In the cabin, the bespoke Ghost features an interior finish separating the chauffeur’s cockpit from the seats in the rear. The driver and any front seat passengers sit in a cockpit featuring black leather seats with red piping – red contrasting stitching is found on the doors, too. Black carpets and lambswool mats also feature, while the Tudor Oak dashboard veneer houses a bespoke clock.

In the rear, passengers get grey leather seats with red piping and stitching, while the door pockets are lined with grey, red and black tartan. Rolls has not revealed how much its special customer has paid for the Ghost Elegance, although the unique tweaks and Diamond paint finish should mean a considerable mark-up on the base Ghost EWB’s £250,327 price tag.

If you could, how would you finish your own bespoke Rolls-Royce? Let us know in the comments.
