New Vauxhall Combo-e electric van goes on sale from £25,238

Vauxhall's Combo-e small electric van has a range of 171 miles and is available to order now

Prices have been confirmed for the all-electric Vauxhall Combo-e, the smallest electric van in the UK firm's line-up. It's available to order now with prices starting from £25,238, excluding VAT and including the Government's Plug-in Van Grant. Deliveries begin towards the end of the year.

Vauxhall now has electric versions of all its vans, with the award-winning Vivaro-e medium-sized van now joined by the large Movano-e and this smaller Combo-e. The Combo-e comes in standard and long panel van body styles, while the latter is also offered as a five-seat Crew Van with a folding rear bench and sliding bulkhead.

Under the skin, the Combo-e uses the same drive system as the Vivaro-e, mounting it within an adapted version of the EMP2-van platform, which was developed by PSA before its merger into the Stellantis Group. Here it's fitted with the 50kWh battery and 134bhp electric motor familiar from the Vauxhall Corsa-e and a range of other Peugeot and Citroen models. In the Combo-e van, this set-up offers a range of 171 miles on the WLTP test cycle.

The battery is mounted under the cargo floor, so there's no impact on cargo volume, with up to 3.8 or 4.4 cubic metres of space in the standard and long vans respectively. The maximum payload stands at 800kg, the heavy battery limiting this maximum when compared with the one tonne payload offered by some diesel variants of the Combo.

There's a 7.4kW on-board charger which allows the Combo-e to be recharged in 7 hours and 30 minutes, while an optional 11kW on-board system brings that time down to 5 hours. A 100kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery to 80 per cent capacity in just half an hour.

Power, Normal and Eco modes make the most of the van's charge, while other tech includes an eight-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, rear parking sensors and a full steel bulkhead. Higher spec Sportive models add the FlexCargo twin folding passenger seat with through-loading bulkhead and body coloured bumpers. Other options that are available include a 180-degree rear-view camera, traffic sign recognition, forward collision alert and automatic emergency braking, plus an overload indicator, which warns the driver when the van has exceeded its maximum payload capacity.

The staring price of £25,238 is for the standard Combo-e van, while the long van starts from £26,438 and the Crew Van comes in at £28,218.
