Leading the practicality pack is Ford’s S-MAX, which manages to offer seven seats, the option to fold all the chairs away to leave a huge luggage area and plenty of cubby space into a conventional family car sized package.
A staggering score of nearly 98 per cent shows just how widely appreciated the Ford’s carrying capabilities really are.
Honda’s previous generation Jazz takes second place. Despite its supermini proportions, the Honda’s amazing versatility makes it more useful than many models from the class above.

At the bottom of the practicality rank you’ll find two models from the same manufacturer that really should do better – the first and second generation MINI have both left drivers crying out for more space.
