Land Rover’s approved boost

Buying a used Land Rover is to get even easier...

Revised warranty package now covers 10 per cent more components than before

13th April 2007

As well as continuing to look after its nearly new models, the Midlands-based manufacturer has announced a shake-up of its approved set-up. This will enable its main dealer network to offer warranty back-up for models up to seven years old and with 100,000 miles on the clock.

The brand’s existing programme covers only examples up to five years old and with less than 60,000 miles. But the new arrangement provides ‘Approved’ cover for vehicles up to that age, and ‘Select’ protection for five to seven-year-old examples. This two-tier scheme also serves up better warranty cover, as 10 per cent more parts are now included.

Approved cars come with at least 12 months’ guarantee, although those sold under the Select banner get only three months as standard. Owners can extend the cover and roadside package at extra cost.

All models sold under the scheme undergo a new 74-point mechanical check, and there’s a clearly worded 30-day exchange plan.

To make it easier for buyers to see exactly what is covered, fresh promotional material will be displayed in showrooms. A spokesman said: “The revisions will give customers greater confidence when purchasing a used Land Rover. It’s also easy to administer: both buyer and dealer will know what is and isn’t in the warranty.”
