Range-topping Volkswagen Amarok Black Edition launched

Volkswagen has released a range-topping Black Edition variant of the Amarok pick-up truck, featuring a host of black styling additions

Volkswagen has launched a new Black Edition trim level for the Amarok pick-up truck. Prices start from £35,790 (excluding VAT) for the least powerful entry-level model, climbing to £41,950 (excluding VAT) for the flagship Amarok Aventura.

Styling revisions for the Amarok Black Edition include a set of unique 20-inch alloy wheels, a new rear bumper, new side-steps and a reworked radiator grille – all finished in black paint. Volkswagen has also fitted a black styling bar to the Amarok’s load bed and a range of revised underbody protection panels.

Inside, there’s a new black headlining, Nappa leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, a 6.5-inch infotainment system with sat-nav and a decorative gloss black insert mounted to the pick-up’s dashboard.

The Amarok Black Edition also features a host of additional safety equipment, including front and rear parking sensors, Volkswagen’s Trailer Stabilisation system and an automatic post-collision braking system. The Black Edition also features power-folding wing mirrors, automatic windscreen wipers and a pair of new fog lamps with cornering function.

Like the standard Amarok, the Black Edition is available with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel, available in two states of tune. The entry-level model produces 201bhp and 500Nm of torque, while the more potent version provides 254bhp and 580Nm of torque. Both engines send their power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
