Lease Hire

Cost: Varied monthly payment

How it works: Similar to purchasing on standard finance, but with lease hire you don’t own the car. Instead, you agree a fixed monthly charge to rent the vehicle for a set time – then hand it back at the end.

There’s a deposit when you first take delivery – usually the initial three months’ rent – but some contracts factor in servicing costs so you can fix your outgoings. Lease hire is growing in popularity: specialist Lings Cars claims website visits are up 40 per cent in recent months.
