The level of free content with RouteBuddy impressed, even if it’s bound to iOS devices only, like Outdoors GPS. The app is free and, unlike many rivals, you can zoom right in for street detail or areas anywhere in the country. It takes on free giants Google Maps and Apple Maps, while scaled-out view looks like a traditional atlas, with major road names easily displayed. It can recognise and show GPS co-ordinates, too.
