New BMW X1 debuts at Detroit Motor Show

Tweaks to the BMW X1 SUV for 2014 include a new front end and more interior options

The BMW X1 has received a minor facelift for 2014, and the car has made its debut at the Detroit Motor Show 2014. Available from the spring, the updated X1 SUV benefits from subtle exterior modifications and increased interior equipment.

From the outside the only noticeable changes include a more prominent lower air intake and new accents on the front bumper. Daytime running lights also now feature as standard on the X1, plus a new 17-inch alloy wheel design is now available as an option.

The latest internet-based services are also being added to the X1. When ordered with satellite navigation and BMW ConnectedDrive, X1 owners will be able to connect the car to the Internet via downloadable apps for smartphones.

Engine options will remain unchanged with one diesel engine and one petrol motor available, both with varying degrees of power. The 2.0-litre diesel powertrain ranges from 118bhp to 218bhp, while the only petrol variant develops 184bhp.

Available from spring next year, the updated SUV should carry the same price tag as the outgoing model, starting from £25,755 and rising to £35,100 for the range-topping X1 M Sport model.
