Renault's electric stars

Auto Express tests Renault's revolutionary electric car line-up

Renault electric concepts

THE electric cars of tomorrow are here… and Auto Express has driven them! Following on from their debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, we’ve put Renault’s new zero-emission models through their paces.

From the Twizy four-wheeled scooter to the Zoe electric supermini and the Fluence – a more conventional Megane-sized family saloon – there’s something for everyone, and although each car is a concept at the moment, they point the way to actual models that will appear in showrooms from 2011.

Renault and Alliance partner Nissan have made a big commitment to electric transport, already investing 4bn euros in the project, and developing their own lithium-ion batteries. Each model will cost no more than the equivalent petrol car, and Renault/Nissan is working with the UK government to set up a charging infrastructure. Make no mistake, the electric dream will very soon become reality!
