Alloygator wheel protectors

Hard plastic protectors have been improved this year, and are brilliant.

Our choice

Hard plastic protectors have been improved this year, and are brilliant. But Alloygators are trickier to fit than Rimblades, as you have to deflate the tyre, insert reinforcing metal tabs, then secure the product with a rubber mallet and secateurs.

It’s best to fit them with the car jacked up, so it’s time-consuming – we’d recommend getting an approved fitter to do the hard work. This will hike the price to about £100, but it’s worth it.

On the road, the Alloygators stood up well to abuse and provided decent protection for our test alloys – and when scuffed, you can restore the finish with the supplied tool. That’s why these are still our pick of the protectors.
